Martin Scorsese confirmed in an interview with Consequence of Sound that his next directing project will be a screen adaptation of Eric Larson's novel The Devil in the White City, which tells the story of the first US serial killer. The main role in the movie will be played by Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom Scorsese has collaborated more than once in the past. "They want me to start working in January 2017. Its author tells the story of Dr. Henry Holmes, who, according to various estimates, brutally killed from 27 to 200 people during the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893. Thanks to his medical education, he expertly disposed of corpses by selling the skeletons of his victims to medical schools. Holmes was accidentally arrested in Texas in 1894 for stealing a horse. During a search in his house, the true scale of the atrocities became known. Henry Holmes was the first serial killer in US history to be thoroughly investigated and documented.
