DiCaprio and Scorsese found their Hannibal Lecter
The role of a serial killer, which Leonardo DiCaprio has long dreamed of playing, can still come true for the actor. Deadline announces that Paramount , in competition with other film studios, has acquired the rights to film adaptation of Eric Larson's book The Devil In The White City: Murder, Magic And Madness At The Fair That Changed America ( "The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair That Changed America" ).The film will be directed by Martin Scorsese and Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) will write the script for the project. DiCaprio , Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Stacy Sher, Scorsese and Emma Tillinger are responsible for producing. The film adaptation has been in development at Warner Bros. for a long time, but recently the studio lost the rights to Larson novel. Oscar-winning Graham Moore (The Imitation Game) is among those who have had a hand in previous versions of the script.  DiCaprio will play one of theserial killers of Chicago - Dr. Henry Howard Holmes , who was dubbed Hannibal Lecter of the 19th century. According to various estimates, from 27 to 200 people became its victims. By the beginning of the World Exhibition in 1893, Holmes built a hotel, popularly known as the "Castle of Murders". Thanks to his natural charm, the doctor easily lured guests to his hotel. Many of them remained unaccounted for ... For the needs of the maniac, the hotel had its own gas chamber, a crematorium and a section table, on which Holmes killed the poor fellows and collected skeletons for subsequent sale.  For DiCaprio and Scorsese the adaptation of Larson will be the sixth joint project. The actor and director have fruitfully collaborated on the films The Gangs of New York, Aviator, The Departed, Isle of the Damned and The Wolf of Wall Street.
