Legendary Pictures is launching a new version of the horror movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. According to Variety, the directors are Andy Tohill and Ryan Tohill, creators of the critically acclaimed Irish thriller Excavation.

"The Tohill version is exactly what fans want. It's cruel, exciting and so depraved that will stay with you forever, "the studio said in a statement on the matter. Recall that in the original 1974 movie, which was directed by Tobe Hooper, it was about a brother and sister who travel with their friends to Texas to visit their grandfather's grave. Upon arrival, they encounter a family of psychopaths and a chainsaw maniac, whose face is hidden by a terrifying leather mask.

The movie quickly gained the status of a cult classic in its genre. In the future, several not so successful sequels were released. In 2003, an attempt was made to restart the series. The plot of the remake was different from the original. This time, the victims of Leatherface were young people who went to Mexico to get drugs. The movie proved to be very successful at the box office, grossing over $ 100 million on a budget of $ 9.5 million.
