Leatherface starts the chainsaw

Image The 2017 prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a mediocre sight. Horror has been gathering dust on the shelf for more than a year, and when it finally got to the audience, it earned mostly negative reviews. It would seem that the road to large screens is closed for Leatherface, but it was not.

The rights to make films about the notorious maniac returned to Kim Henkel, the writer of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. They were subsequently bought out by the Legendary studio, and, according to rumors, the leadership of the major wants to start a new bloody massacre. Federico Alvarez, the director of such successful horror films as "Evil Dead: Black Book" and "Don't Breathe", was chosen as the producer of the project.

The Legendary and Alvarez were inspired by the example of David Gordon Green, who successfully brought Michael Myers back to the screens, and want to do the same trick with Leatherface, that is, create a sequel to the 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre, ignoring everything that happened in the franchise after the original slasher Tobe Hooper. Such a scheme paid off for Halloween, and soon Terminator will test its miraculousness on itself.

Today, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise has eight films, including sequels, prequels, and a pretty successful 2003 remake. However, the last two parts of the series, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D" and "Leatherface", did not enjoy success with viewers and brought only losses to their creators.
