"Elementary" star Johnny Lee Miller will play one of the key roles in the movie adaptation of the story "Nine Lives" by the famous writer Ursula Le Guin. According to Deadline, his partner on the set will be the popular performer and actor Common.

The work, published in 1969, takes place on the planet Libra, which is uninhabitable, but rich in minerals. Two earthlings work at a station isolated from the external environment for many months, and then ten clones are sent to their aid. Soon nine of them die as a result of the accident, only one remains, which people miraculously manage to save. The clone physically senses the death of its counterparts, and these dramatic experiences can affect its personality.

The story explores complex ethical issues concerning the relationship of people with each other and the clones they have created. Filming is expected to start in the summer of 2019, the rental schedule of the movie has not yet been specified.

Recall that Ursula Le Guin is considered one of the pillars of the sci-fi genre. The writer passed away in January 2018.
