Large open world and physics emphasis: Rumors of Avowed by Obsidian

Avowed is the next project from Obsidian that was shown to us last week at the Xbox Games Showcase. We hardly learned any information about the game except for the fact that its events will unfold in the Pillars of Eternity universe.

So far, we have to make do with rumors about the game, and a user with the nickname Sponger has leaked them to the network. His words were confirmed by the insider Klobrille, who previously leaked details about the Xbox Games Showcase.

Here's everything he said:

  • Events will unfold on the island of The Living Lands, known for its changeable weather, valleys and plains, rich fauna and eternally gnawing population among themselves. An open world awaits us, which is richer and more diverse than the world of Skyrim. There are many small and large cities that differ from each other in their appearance and natural surroundings.
  • The focus of the game is on modern lighting technologies and interaction with the outside world. The physics in the game is realistic and will be directly related to magic.
  • The weather and its changes will be important for the gameplay, like fogs. Plus, they make a microphysics system for rivers.
  • The character editor is now much deeper.
  • Avowed has support for PC and Xbox mods.
  • There are a lot of factions in the game.
  • Companions behave differently from The Outer Worlds.
  • The plot of the game will not be related to the Pillars of Eternity dilogy, but the lore will be treated with all due respect and expanded.
  • Very large bosses are expected in the game [not all, but there will be several of them]. Plus, so far, the developers adhere to the idea that every character in the game can be killed.
  • The gods will take a special place in the game.
  • The game has been in active production for seven months now. All this time, her team consisted of up to a hundred people, which in general has been engaged in it for two years. Avowed is currently in full production with a large team working on it.

The release of the game is scheduled for late 2022, early 2023.

The creator of the original Mafia criticized the Mafia: Definitive Edition gameplay cinematic by comparing Paulie to Shrek.

Last week Hangar 13 showed us the gameplay of the Mafia remake. He came under the watchful eye of Daniel Vavra, the creator of the original Mafia, who criticized the game. He later deleted the message.

Vavra found fault with trifles rather than something significant. So, he said that the current Pauline is like Shrek or the Hulk. Also, the game designer noticed that unrealistic elements appeared in the game that were not in the original: red barrels, a "cool system of shelters" and physics of models like in GTA 5. He served it all under the sauce of irony, but soon deleted the post.

Under the news about his reaction from the Czech branch of Eurogamer, they left a comment on Hangar 13. They considered Vavra's irony a compliment, since he did not find fault with something serious. The game designer himself gave the publication a comment where he apologized to the actor who plays Paulie [he had no right to insult him for his appearance], and also said that his post was rather disrespectful to his former colleagues. For these reasons, he deleted it.

Recall that Mafia Definitive Edition will be released on September 25 on PC, Xbox One, PS4.

Fable's reboot will keep the balance between old and new

Little is known about the new Fable, so we have to look for crumbs of information on our own. Such were the ones in a recent interview with The Guardian with Matt Bootie from Xbox. Playground Games, which previously dealt only with sports simulators, were chosen as the developers for the game, as they know how to create large detailed worlds, he said. Everything he saw from the finished material promises a high-quality release.

One of the main challenges facing developers is to find a balance between old and new in the game: to refresh the series, but keep its fan-favorite features. Bootie himself likens the creation of the new Fable to the Star Wars sequels, where fans are waiting for familiar elements, but the creators are also obliged to take the story forward.

We also have rumors that the game will have online elements like in Forza Horizon 4.

STALKER 2 will have ray tracing and 4K resolution

STALKER 2 GSC Game Worlds is about to deliver cutting edge graphics and has confirmed 4K and ray tracing support for the game. They are officially confirmed for Xbox One, but something tells us that they will also be delivered for PC.

In the future, we should expect much more information about the game, since, apparently, the developer is deploying an advertising campaign and has already created accounts in various social media. networks and on You Tube.

Project Athia will have a large open world

Project Athia is one of the games announced at Sony's special event, being produced by Luminous Productions and Square Enix. We didn't have any details about the game except for a description that a detailed open world awaits us. There was no new information until recently, when the president of the publishing house, Yosuke Matsuda, spoke a little about the project in an interview with Weekly Tokyo Keizai Plus.

According to him, the game will be a sandbox created especially for the most powerful devices. Thanks to ray tracing on PS5, they will be able to create a game with graphics close to PC quality. The publisher also plans to create balanced games for different platforms, including cloud gaming. But at the same time, such powerful platforms as PS5 will remain their priority.

Agony spin-off Succubus now has a demo

In case you forgot, Succubus is a spin-off of Agony, telling about the adventures of a devil who went to conquer new corners of hell. The game managed to make some noise with its shocking moments, such as abortion through the vagina or sex with the martyrs of hell.

Now you can try a piece of this game in person, as its demo version has appeared on Steam. A separate page was allocated for it in the store called Succubus: Prologue. The demo has two levels of the game, a basic hub location, an armor and weapons store, a bestiary, several opponents and a world map.

Plot moments from the demo were cut to avoid spoilers, and streamers could turn on censorship mode to show it on sites without fear of getting banned.

The game is going to be released exclusively on PC. No release date has been announced yet.

This was all the important news from the beginning of the week. Stay with us.
