One of the main gaming ceremonies of 2018, The Game Awards, was held without any special discoveries, but it was not without unexpected surprises. More precisely, the announcement of The Outer Worlds, a new space RPG from the genre's masters from Obsidian Entertainment. Recall that this is the first major game for developers in 8 years since the creation of the cult Fallout New Vegas.
The Outer Worlds begins on a spaceship that has gone off course on its way to one of the largest human colonies in the galaxy called Halcyon. The main character will wake up after several decades from cryosleep and find himself in the largest conspiracy against humanity.
As you would expect from the Obsidian games in The Outer Worlds, the player will be able to make numerous decisions that will affect the fate of the game characters, the galaxy, and in addition, may open new chapters in the main plot. As in the Mass Effect series, the player will be able to travel between galaxies and planets to explore new lands, meet or feud with alien settlers. At the moment, it is not known how much the game will resemble No Mans Sky and whether we should expect auto-generation of terrain and living creatures when landing on new planets.
Also note that the game is classified as an AA-class project, that is, not a blockbuster of the same RDR 2 level, for example, but also not a budget work sold at half price on Steam.
The Outer Worlds will be released next year for PC, Xbox One PlayStation 4.
