Apple has unveiled the new iPad Pro, a tablet that pioneered a part not normally found in mobile devices. This component is the built-in LiDAR - a laser scanner for determining the distance to an object. Lidars are mainly intended for drones, while the updated iPad has become part of the main camera.

In addition to an unusual component for mobile gadgets, the Apple tablet has a keyboard with a built-in trackpad that supports the Multi Touch function and cursor control in iPadOS. The iPad also features an improved screen, a new chip and an audio system with five microphones, which, according to the manufacturer, create studio-quality sound.

The LiDAR built into the new iPad detects the distance to the surrounding objects, working within a radius of five meters. The sensor is active indoors and outdoors. Its presence in the "apple" tablet will be useful for at least two tasks: working in applications that create different effects on images and videos, as well as for getting even more opportunities in augmented reality programs.

Other parameters

The new iPad Pro family is powered by the proprietary A12Z chip, which is considered an improved modification of the classic A12. By the way, the previous generation iPads, which were released in the fall of 2018, are based on the A12X processor. The screens of the new tablets are still based on the IPS matrix. Their refresh rate reaches 120 Hz, in addition, the displays have received an improved anti-reflective coating.

The announced Apple iPad is equipped with a dual camera, which outwardly completely coincides with the solution presented in the iPhone 11 Pro. The main 12-megapixel photo module of the iPad is complemented by an ultra-wide-angle 10 megapixel sensor, the optics of which accommodates twice as much space. Instead of a third sensor, the tablet has a lidar.

The Magic Keyboard features a smooth tilt angle adjustment, and when you move on the touchpad, the interface is backlit. The key travel is 0.1 cm. The keyboard is based on a scissor mechanism, in favor of which Apple developers abandoned the previous butterfly solution, which became the subject of numerous user complaints.

Cost

In world markets, including USA, the new iPad Pro is presented in 11 and 12.9-inch versions. The 11-inch version, complete with 128 GB of internal memory with Wi-Fi, is estimated at 70,000 rubles. The same assembly, but with LTE will cost 84,000 rubles. The tablet with the largest volume of 1 TB (Wi-Fi) costs 115,000 rubles. The same for the version with LTE - 129,000 rubles.
