A nomination for a famous film award always pushes the public interest in such projects and helps them to seriously increase the box office. According to the new rules, all current members of the Academy - from actors to public relations experts - will have the right to vote in determining nominees for the cartoon category. Such a decision can lead to irreparable consequences. For example, last year the average film academician would probably have voted not for “ Red Turtle ” or “ Life of a Zucchini ”, but for the much more hyped “Sing”. Now modest animation projects can become rare guests at the Oscars , and the win in the Best Animated Film nomination will begin every year for Pixar , Disney, DreamWorks Animation , Illumination Entertainment and other industry titans. It is possible that it was the large studios that pushed the idea of changing the voting system: in previous years, such high-budget cartoons as Lego.
