The Reward Season will run until April
Most of the world's cinemas are still quarantined, so the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has postponed the 93rd Academy Awards and made minor adjustments to its selection rules.Oscar 2021 has been postponed from February 28 to April 25. Earlier, academics lifted the restriction, according to which only those films that have performed qualifying screenings in California cinemas are allowed to participate in the competition. Today the organizers of the award have made another serious relief. If earlier the producers had to submit documents to participate in the Oscar race before December 31, then in this film season the acceptance of applications will be extended until February 28. The last time the Academy accepted pictures from different calendar years back in 1934. Academics will also strengthen measures aimed at increasing the representativeness of the nominees. Previously, the number of Oscars nominations for Best Picture of the Year ranged from five to ten. In the future, it will be fixed at the last mark. Thanks to this decision, not only box office hits and films with huge advertising budgets, but also modest independent films will be among the finalists of the category.  It's hard to imagine what the next awards season will look like. There is a chance that today's news will set off a chain reaction to carry over premiums to next spring.
