In recent years, foreign directors have rarely worked in our country. Even when movie heroes need to look into USA for just a couple of minutes, foreign directors are filming in Eastern Europe and recreate domestic sights with the help of computer graphics experts. The USA Association of Film and Television Producers decided to rectify this sad situation.Association President Sergei Selyanov announced that his organization and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade have developed a program for the provision of subsidies to domestic companies involved in foreign television and film production in our country. The plan to turn USA into a Mecca for authors of foreign films and TV series is calculated for four years. The program will be launched in a few weeks. This year the amount of subsidies will amount to 70 million rubles, next year - 700 million, and in 2021 and 2022 - 1.5 billion each. Thanks to participation in the program, USA studios and their foreign partners will be able to reimburse the costs of staff costs, rental of pavilions, creation of scenery and maintenance of shooting equipment. The authors of the initiative promise that companies will return up to 30-40 percent of their expenses. In fact, the Producers' Association program is a response to Western tax break systems: the authorities of many countries provide substantial benefits to foreign film crews, since they make a significant contribution to the economy and create additional jobs. It remains to be hoped that the domestic rebate system will not only raise the country's attractiveness in the eyes of foreigners, but also involve hundreds of talented USAs in filmmaking.  In this positive news, there was still a couple of fly in the ointment. Firstly, all 3.77 billion rubles will be taken directly from the federal budget. Secondly, representatives of the Ministry of Culture will take part in their distribution, to which there are serious questions about the expenditure of funds within the framework of the program to support the national cinema.
