China has agreed to open its market to Hollywood

China has agreed to comply with the terms of the World Trade Association and open its market to foreign entertainment content, including Hollywood movies. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

According to agreements with representatives of the largest Hollywood movie studios and the American Film Producers Association, all WTO conditions must be met by March 19, 2011.

Recall that China joined the WTO in 2001, but all subsequent years there were protectionist measures on the country's movie market - the number of foreign movies in the box office was limited.

The Chinese leadership explained its actions as a desire to protect the national culture from overseas influence.

Nevertheless, many analysts are sure that that China will continue to impede the free development of the movie market, since there is no single rating system in the country, and a special board of censors is in charge of issuing distribution certificates, which retains a lot of room for manipulation.

Note that the Chinese movie market is the most actively developing in the world. Two new cinemas open every day in the country.
