Amazon talks about NYC clubbing
The online service Amazon decided to arrange a fascinating tour of the hot spots of the Big Apple for moviegoers. As it became known to the publication Deadline, the management of the streaming giant has acquired the rights to film adaptation of the novel by Nicholas Pileggi and J.J.Sasha Limelight. The work is just being prepared for publication, but literary critics have already noted its similarity with Pileggi's previous books, based on which the famous crime dramas "Nicefellas" and "Casino" were shot.The main character of Limelight will be Canadian businessman Peter Gatien. In his youth, the future King of New York City's nightlife lost an eye in a tragic incident on a hockey rink. Peter used his insurance payments to open a jeans store in his hometown of Cornwall. A few years later, Gatienne read in a newspaper that the famous Rumbottoms nightclub was closing in Florida due to financial problems. The Canadian immediately left for the United States and bought the bankrupt business at a bargain price. Soon, a new establishment was opened on the site of Rumbottoms - The Limelight. In just a few years, Gatienne managed to create a whole network of nightclubs. The most successful was the New York branch of The Limelight, which has become a real Mecca for movie, sports and music stars.  Becoming a multimillionaire, Peter decided to try his hand at being a film producer and invested in the creation of "The Bronx Story" by Robert De Niro. In the mid-90s, the Drug Enforcement Administration unexpectedly became interested in Gatienne's business, which had reason to believe that ecstasy was trafficked on the Limeligh network. New York authorities, led by Mayor Rudolph V. Giuliani, so tightly seized upon Peter that he was soon charged with tax evasion. The Canadian was forced to admit his guilt and pay a multimillion-dollar fine. In 2003, the US Department of Homeland Security deported him to his homeland with $ 500 in his pocket. The director's name became known to the general public in 2014, when he received an Emmy nomination for his work on the third season of the popular teleanatology, American Horror Story.
