The USA stage of movieing the drama with the working title "Kursk", dedicated to the famous nuclear submarine disaster, has been postponed indefinitely. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, this happened because the USA Ministry of Defense did not issue a permit for movieing at its facilities in time.

"They probably have much more important things to do now," commented one of the project's producers Andrei Sigl. According to the moviemakers, initially the USA military department showed interest in working together on the movie, but then cooperation began to stall.

Let us remind you that the production of "Kursk" is carried out by Luc Besson's studio EuropaCorp. British actor Colin Firth agreed to play one of the main roles in the movie. The movie will be based on a script prepared by Robert Rodat, who has contributed to such famous movie projects as Saving Private Ryan and others.

Recall that the nuclear-powered submarine K-141 Kursk crashed in August 2000 during an exercise in the Barents Sea. The disaster took place after the explosion of the "Kit" torpedo No. 65-76, which occurred as a result of a fuel leak. The detonation of the ammunition led to the destruction of the bow compartments of the submarine. Rescue operations, which were carried out by the forces of the Northern Fleet from 13 to 20 August, were unsuccessful. All 118 crew members were killed.
