Streaming service Netflix ordered production for the third season of "Lemony Snicket: 33 Misfortunes" less than a month after announcing the show's second season renewal. This is reported by the Variety edition.

Based on a series of popular books by Daniel Handler (under the pseudonym Lemony Snicket), the series tells the tragic story of the Baudelaire orphans - Violet, Klaus and Sunny – whose vicious guardian Uncle Earl Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) will stop at nothing to seize their inheritance. The main roles in the series are played by Malina Weissman, Louis Hines, Alfrey Woodard, Joan Cusack and Aasif Mandvi. Patrick Warburton is the narrator of Lemony Snicket.

Paramount TV and Netflix began adapting the works in 2014. ten years after the release in 2004 of the feature-length movie of the same name, the role of Count Olaf in which Jim Carrey played. The script for the first season of the series, which debuted on Netflix on January 13, 2017, is based on four of the thirteen novels – a novel for every two episodes. Together with Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black), Handler is the executive producer and writer of the show.
