Kirsten Dunst and Mads Mikkelsen joined the Cannes Film Festival jury
The organizers of the 69th Cannes Film Festival introduced members of an international jury, which will evaluate the applicants in the main program. It included, in particular, American actors Kirsten Dunst and Donald Sutherland, Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, French director Arno Deplechen, Italian actress and director Valeria Golino, Hungarian director Laszlo Nemesh and Iranian producer Kathayun Shahabi. As a reminder, the Australian director George Miller was appointed chairman of the jury, whose work "Mad Max 4: Fury Road" was shown during the festival outside of the competition in 2015. The opening movie will be a new project of the famous Hollywood director and screenwriter Woody Allen called "Club Society". In the main competition program, 13 movies were announced, there were no USA applicants among them. However, Kirill Serebrennikov's movie "(M) Pupil", based on the play by the German playwright Marius von Mayenburg, will compete for the award in the program "Special Look". The 69th Cannes Film Festival starts on May 11 and runs until May 22, 2016. The popular French actor Laurent Lafitte was chosen to host the opening ceremony.
