The new movie by the famous Hollywood director and screenwriter Woody Allen entitled "Club Society" will be shown at the opening of the 69th Cannes International Film Festival. This was reported on the official website of the most prestigious European movie forum.

The painting will be shown at the Bolshoi Lumiere Theater of the Palais des Festivals outside the competition program. For Allen, this will be his third opening movie at the Cannes Film Festival: previously, his work preceded the competition program in 2002 and 2011.

The action of the picture will take place in the 30s of the last century. The young man goes to Hollywood in search of work and is drawn into the turbulent social life of those years. Key roles were played by Blake Lively, Corey Stoll, Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, Steve Carell, Kelly Rohrbach, Parker Posey, Paul Schneider, Judy Davis and other actors.

Woody Allen worked on the project with renowned cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, a 1991 feature jury member and a three-time Academy Award winner. The 69th International Cannes Film Festival will take place from 11 to 22 May 2016. George Miller was appointed chairman of the jury. The list of participants in the competition program will be announced on April 14, 2016.
