Today we'll also talk about PUGB circulation, Ori and the Will of the Wisps - the first 120 fps game, an add-on for The Outer Worlds.
THQ Nordic Released Gothic Remake Demo
This year THQ Nordic bought out the creators of the original Gothic series, Piranha Bytes. It turned out that no one would postpone the franchise, and the publisher released a demo version of the Gothic remake on Steam. Work on it will continue in the event that the community leaves positive feedback on the game.
The game prototype has become available to all players who have at least one game from the Piranha Bytes studio from the Gothic, Risen series or an ELEX game in their library.
After passing a small demo, which shows the main mechanics of the game, you will be asked to take a short survey, from the results of which the publisher will conclude whether to continue development or not.
The demo was created by THQ Nordic Barcelona. Piranha Bytes itself was not involved in the creation, but the team is working on a new game that will be shown to us next year.
If the project gets the green light, we will wait for a remake of Gothic for a long time. THQ Nordic Barcelona is a small team. If successful, it will be expanded so that it can create a large-scale game.
First details of The Wolf Among Us 2
One of the co-founders of the new Telltale Jamie Ottilay was interviewed for Forbs, where he gave some details about The Wolf Among Us 2.
Let's be clear, now Telltale is another company that bought the name and remnants of the previously bankrupt studio. The game is being developed by a division of the new AdHoc Studio, which consists of former employees of the late Telltale.
Since the game has moved to a new platform, a number of improvements and new "interesting gameplay elements" can be expected. The plot of the second game will take place after the events of the first season and 20 years before the events of the original comic. Bigby and Snow White will again be at the center of the story. The game won't be released until 2021 on consoles and PC via the Epic Store. As in the first season, the second will have five episodes, but there is a chance that they will not be released in parts, but in whole at once.
If we talk about development, then the team has a lot of people who worked on the first part, such as the leaders of the previous project Nick Herman and Dennis Lenart, writer of the first season Pierre Shoret and composer Jared Emerson-Johnson. The voice actors of the main characters remain the same.
Currently, the studio is engaged in only one game, since the workflows have not yet been established. After Wolf, Telltale will start creating a new intellectual property project.
In Left 4 Dead 2, you can now visit Chernobyl
After 9 years of development, a mod for Left 4 Dead 2 was released, adding Chernobyl to the game. The fan mod for Left 4 Dead 2: Chernobyl will be released later this year.
According to the plot of the mod, the surviving people decide to go to the Siberian tundra, as there is information that the zombie virus spreads more slowly in permafrost conditions. Having bribed the pilot of the helicopter, they go there through the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, assuming that due to the lack of people, there will be no zombies there either.
Modification is a full-fledged company, split into two parts. The first will be released this month, but only a co-op version. The competition version will be released later.
The mod took a long time to create, since the development was suspended more than once, and it also took a lot of time to create assets. Download the mod itself, when it comes out, you can either in the Steam Workshop or on Mod DB.
PUGB circulation is 60 million copies
Despite strong competitors, PUBG continues to hold its ground in the battle royale arena. So, the total circulation of the game from the date of release was 60 million copies. This is a summary of the game's sales on PC and consoles.
In incentive, the game still holds a leading position, and is in the "top 3 games by the number of players", second only to CS: GO and Dota 2. According to the data that the developer posted on his Twitter, the game is ranked 8th on You -Tube is among the most viewed games.
Shareware PUGB Mobile is still better. The game has been downloaded 600 million times. The total earnings amounted to more than 1 billion, and this is without taking into account China [with which the game earned the first billion back in September this year]. Plus, the game's esports community should grow next year.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be the first 120fps game
A screenshot of Ori and the Will of the Wisps announced at The Game Awards has appeared on Reddit. According to project manager Thomas Mahler, the studio wants to release the game on Xbox Series X at 120 fps. The developer is confident that by the time their new game is released on a new generation console, 120Hz TVs will spread among the audience, and such a frame rate will no longer be a luxury.
Of course, whether the game will play at 120 fps or not depends more on the new Microsoft console.
Mahler also said that compared to the first part, the second part has changed significantly: the animation has become smoother, and the lighting has improved. And the sound effects of the game are being worked on by the Formosa Group, who worked on God of War and Halo.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is slated for release on March 11, 2020 for PC, XOne and PS4.
The Outer Worlds will receive DLC next year
Good news for those who have already completed The Outer Worlds and are waiting for the expansion, because there will be one. The community manager in the studio's social network spoke about this.
According to him, even the nomination for The Game Awards means a lot to the game and the development team. As such, they are happy to announce that The Outer Worlds will receive DLC next year. We'll get more details later.
Recall. That the gamer liked the game, and paid for itself to a large extent, exceeding the expectations of the publisher. In addition, it is possible that in the future we will see a sequel to the game.
