THQ Nordic is preparing to release a new Saints Row, it also found a new studio for Dead Island 2 and bought the developers Darksiders

THQ Nordic's financial report for the year contained a lot of interesting information regarding the purchases of new studios, as well as the development of many projects, whose fate until now remained unclear.

A little bit of essence so as not to get confused. There is one main company, THQ Nordic AB, and it includes divisions: THQ Nordic, Koch Media [owning the publisher Deep Silver] and Coffee Stain Studios.

First, let's analyze what the company bought:

  • THQ Nordic is now owned by Gunfire Games, behind the third game in the Darksiders series. It was founded by former employees of Vigil Games, who were involved in the creation of the first Darksiders.
  • Milestone srl has come under the wing of Koch Media, you may know it for projects such as MotoGP, Ride and Monster Energy Supercross.

However, the more interesting part of the report is what has become known about the new games. So, Volition is sweating over the next full-fledged game of the Saints Row series, the development of the continuation of the Metro series has already been confirmed, the creators of Homefront: The Revolution from Dambuster Studios will be involved in the rehabilitation of Dead Island 2, Fishlabs is responsible for creating mobile projects, is developing the original project, and the company plans to return TimeSplitters.

MediEvil will be a real remake that expands on the ideas of the original

This fall, a remake of the famous 1998 action adventure MediEvil will be released on PS4. Sony published a video in which the creators of the game talked about the work on it. Other Ocean's creative director, Mike Mickey, said that the creators made it their goal to improve the game on all fronts, and not just recreate it graphically.

This approach is due to the fact that the studio got its hands on the source code of the original game with all its secrets. So, for example, they found there data about cut bosses, quests and locations that they recreated in the game. What's more, the code even mentions what kind of music the authors of the original MediEvil listened to, which helped the team get into the right rhythm of work.

Audio logs from excellent Pray 2 have floated to the network

Pray, which was released in 2017, although it became a hit, was radically different from the 2014 game that was shown to us then. Little is known about her today. However, we still find different mentions of the game online.

Recently, for example, the curator of the Strong National Museum of Play, Andrew Borman, posted on his channel a video in which the main character of the canceled Pray 2 Killian Samueals talks about the GG of the first part - Tommy. For example, he recalls how he met him, being depressed due to loneliness. At first Killian thought he was hallucinating, but Tommy walked up to him, held out his hand, and greeted him as if it was something completely normal in the situation they were in. More information can be found in the video itself.

Daymare 1998 Demo Released - Revamped Resident Evil 2 Fan Remake

We already wrote about Daymare 1998 in our material about the best fan remakes of games, but remember that before Capcom announced a remake of the second Resident Evil, the craftsmen from Invader Studios worked on it. When the announcement took place, the guys sat down on the fifth point and realized that something needed to be changed. So they found a publisher in All In! Games and reworked the remake into the original game.

Today, the release date has become known - September 17. The announcement was supported by a new story trailer, which tells about one of the heroes of Daymare 1998 - Sam. He is a good guy, does not quarrel with neighbors and lives a quiet and measured life of a ranger in the town of Keene Site. He is confronted by a group of HADES operatives working to solve extraordinary problems related to chemical weapons.

Sam will have to join the fight against the evil creatures that have begun to terrorize his lands and city.

Now you can play the demo version of the game; it is available on Steam.

Domestic gamedev gets up from its knees - announcement of King's Bounty 2

It would seem that King's Bounty died out a long time ago, but unexpectedly 1C Entertainment announced a sequel. They will act as the developer and publisher of the sequel. The second part takes place on the territory of Antara. Outside the kingdom of Nastariya, people are dying from the unknown misfortune of "Doom", and refugees have populated the worn-out lands of the kingdom, beyond which monsters stricken by Doom roam. We have to plow these lands with one of three heroes to choose from.

The gameplay is divided into two parts. We will explore the world from a third person, take quests, travel and communicate with different NPCs. The second part is a turn-based battle. We are promised arenas with three-dimensional relief and realistic environments.

The emphasis will be on non-linearity, we are promised a bunch of difficult decisions that will affect the events of the subsequent plot. More specifically, the character's actions will have the meaning, not his words.

The game will be released next year on PC, Xone and PS4.

A Walk in the Dark Forest - New Blair Witch Trailer

Action horror based on the movie of the same name Blair Witch will take place in a forest near the city of Blair. The new trailer just demonstrates this darkest forest in which we will have to roam the entire game.

Recall that we are playing as officer Alice, who, together with the dog Bullet, searched for the missing boy in these dark wilds. Alas, the search turned out that the would-be detective himself got lost. The gameplay is based largely on the studio's past games: Layers of Fear and Observer.

The game will be released on August 30th on PC and Xone.

This was all the important news for the end of the week, stay tuned.
