Columbia Pictures Will Send Doug Lyman Into Space

Image Currently Doug Lyman is just getting ready to start work on the film "Chaos Treads", based on the novel of the same name by Patrick Ness, but now the director's list of future plans for one film adaptation has increased.

According to the portal The Hollywood Reporter , Columbia Pictures will take under its wing an adaptation of the teenage novel by Amy Kaufman and Megan Spooner, titled Unearthed . Previously, the film was handled by Cross Creek Pictures and Lyman himself. It is also known that the director is considering the adaptation as one of his future projects. The script for the film is being written by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, who know Lyman from The Edge of Tomorrow.

The novel is described as an Indiana Jones-style story set in space, in the distant future, when the Earth will die due to environmental disaster. To help their home planet, a schoolboy and a scavenger are sent to explore the world of a long-extinct alien race, where technology is hidden that can stop a disaster. However, in the ancient ruined temple, they find something that can completely destroy their home ...

The book has yet to be published, but Columbia bosses are already seeing the start of a potential franchise in the film adaptation.
