Doug Lyman still believes in Edge of Tomorrow 2

Image A little less than a year ago, director Doug Lyman talked about the progress of work on the sequel to Tomorrow's Edge, but since then there has been no news of the tape. Lyman himself, Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt were engaged in completely different projects, and fans of science fiction have already begun to lose hope that the second Edge of Tomorrow will someday see the light of day.

Collider spoke with Lyman during the TV Critics Association's winter press tour, and the director delivered encouraging news for those eagerly awaiting a sequel. And if earlier the main stumbling block was the working schedules of the actors and the director, now this issue has been settled, it remains only to finalize the script.

“We are poring over the text ... There are no problems with the schedule - we have already found time in our plans for a sequel. But this is one of those films that we will only make if we like the script. The studio does not put pressure on us, so Edge of Tomorrow 2 we will implement only if I, Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt want it and believe in the project ", Lyman admitted.

The sequel was conceived by Christopher McQuarrie and written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (Willpower). According to previous press statements, the sequel to Tomorrow's Edge should be a prequel to the original film.

When asked how soon they were going to start filming, Lyman even said that the second part could be his next project. While the director is preparing for the release of Chaos, Cruise planned to star in the sequel to Top Gun, and Emily Blunt has no official plans after working on the thriller A Quiet Place. Probably, by the end of this year or the beginning of the next, the trio will still have time for "Edge of the Future 2".
