Three years ago, Universal began creating a sports drama about two-time Olympic boxing champion Claressa Shields. As it became known to our foreign colleagues, the film has finally entered the casting stage.The role of Shields went to singer and actress Ryan Destiny, who became known to the general public through the musical series Star. Recall that the Universal tape will tell about the sporting success of a talented girl from the city of Flint, who made her way to the Olympic Games in London at the age of 17 and brought the USA the first gold in women's boxing. Four years later, Claressa repeated her success in sunny Rio. Never before have American boxers won two Olympic tournaments in a row. The biographical drama was written by Academy Award winner Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) and directed by Rachel Morrison, the first woman in film history to win an Oscar for Best Cinematography. The filmmakers are currently looking for Destiny's on-screen partners.  The production functions are assigned to the three-time nominee for the main film awards of the world, Michael De Luca ("Social Network", "Escape from Dannemora").
