Korean psychiatric hospital awaits American guests

Image Korean horror conquers the world: Netflix is preparing its second series about Korean zombies, and "Train to Busan" is awaiting an English-language remake and a sequel. American producers continue to seek ideas for new projects in South Korea: Los Angeles-based Black Box Management has entered into a strategic agreement with BH Entertainment, and their first joint project will be a remake of the horror film "Gongjiam Mental Hospital."

The original film was released in 2018. Its action takes place in a mental hospital, which was closed in 1979 after the suicide of 42 patients and the disappearance of the head physician. Since then, the abandoned hospital has become a mecca for thrill seekers. Rumor has it that ghosts live in the building and that no one was able to open the door to room 402. And so the video blogger gathers a team of daredevils who are ready to go to Konjiam to open this door live at any cost.

The film grossed $ 20 million worldwide with a modest budget of $ 2.2 million and has received good reviews, although reviewers admit that Conjiam Psychiatric Hospital is in some ways reminiscent of Grave Finders and other horror mockumentary.

Interest in South Korean cinema has grown largely thanks to the victory of "Parasites" at the Oscars, and recently TNT delighted viewers with a remake of the post-apocalyptic thriller "Through the Snow", which got out of the production hell and already deserved an extension for a second season.
