Gary Oldman to write Citizen Kane
In recent years, director David Fincher has worked extensively and successfully in television. Suffice it to recall his psychological thriller Mind Hunter and the animated anthology Love, Death and Robots. Today it became known that the two-time Oscar nominee decided to return to big cinema. Fincher will lead work on a biographical drama about the life of the Oscar-winning screenwriter Herman Y. Mankevich.The picture is being developed for the online service Netflix, with which David has already collaborated on the creation of the aforementioned television projects. Fincher's latest feature film, Gone Girl, was released in 2014. The director was expected to return to Hollywood with a sequel to World War Z, but work on the long-suffering Paramount project has stalled due to budget problems. The hitch in the creation of the blockbuster allowed David to carve out time to realize his late father's dream project. Jack Fincher wrote the screenplay for the Mankiewicz movie back in the 90s. David tried to shoot a biopic amid the success of The Game, but he never succeeded. The director's father died in 2003. David had to wait 16 years before he finally had the opportunity to honor the memory of his parent and bring the long-term construction to mind.  It is expected that the film will cover a couple of decades of Mankiewicz's life - from the first steps as a Hollywood screenwriter to the scandal around the famous "Citizen Kane". At one time, Herman announced to reporters that director Orson Welles was trying to remove his name from the credits of the drama. As a result, both parties to the conflict were announced as the authors of the film and even won an Oscar in the Best Original Screenplay category, but did not appear at the ceremony of presenting the main film awards in the world. The image of Herman Y. Mankevich will be embodied by the winner of the Oscar - 2018 Gary Oldman.  Fincher plans to shoot the painting in black and white to pay tribute to Hollywood's Golden Age.
