Comedy ”Don't Tell Mom The Nanny Died” Will Remake
The inhabitants of the Hollywood hills never cease to delight viewers with news about remakes of old films. A new look at a familiar history allows us to present the modern generation with the same emotions that their parents experienced in their youth. With this approach in mind, Treehouse Pictures began work on a remake of the 1991 classic Comedy Don't Tell Mom The Nanny Died, starring Christina Applegate, Joanna Cassidy and Josh Charles. Chuck Hayward will write the script for the new film about the modern African American family, and Bille Woodruff is appointed director.The original film, directed by Steven Herek, follows a teenage girl, Sue, who is forced to look after her three younger siblings when her mother leaves town and an elderly nanny left behind with her children suddenly dies. The heroine has to be smart and cunning in order to feed a small family and at the same time take care of her own future in the fashion world.  Although the picture did not have much commercial success and did not receive high ratings, it had a large impact on the genre and became a cult for the boomer generation. The dialogues of the characters diverged into quotes and catchphrases, and The New York Post named the film “Best Teenage Movie of 1991.” Woodruff's recent work includes the third season of the Genius series about the singer Aretha Franklin, which will premiere in the fall, as well as separate episodes of The Empire and Black Lightning. In addition to television, the director managed to work for a wide screen on the films "Ideal Choice" and "Beauty Salon".
