New turn of the screw

Image Following the recent success of Netflix's Haunting of the Hill House, competitors quickly rushed to find something similar. The information portal Deadline reports that the Freeform channel has found its analogue of horror - it will be a show based on the classic novel by Henry James "Turn of the Screw". The project will be executive produced by Alexandra McNally (Under the Dome) and Josh Berman (Blacklist).

The original book is about a governess who is entrusted with the care of two children, Miles and Flora. They, as it seems to a 20-year-old girl, are haunted by the ghosts of her predecessor and the servant who died in the estate. However, what is a great danger for children - ghosts or a hysterical nanny, whom they may only be imagining? Readers, by the way, have been looking for an answer to this question for 120 years.

The "turn of the screw" has been adapted for screens on several occasions. The most famous film adaptation is, perhaps, the film "Innocent" in 1961, and the last one is the BBC television movie of the same name, released in 2009. In 1971, director Michael Winner even shot a prequel to the story - the film Aliens of the Night, starring Marlon Brando and Stephanie Beecham.

According to the source, the new version will be a story with a gothic atmosphere and a twisted plot. The setting will be the idyllic island of Bainbridge, and the protagonist will be a nanny with American and Mexican roots, who is hired by a widower to raise his two children.
