The perfect nanny with a knife on her back
When a novel or film is based on real events, it is much more terrifying to dive into the story, especially if the tragedy involves children. Why Not Productions in collaboration with Pan-Europeenne decided to take on just such a project - the studios are adapting Leila Slimani's bestseller The Perfect Nanny for films. The author of the book will act as the executive producer of the film.According to the plot, Miriam, after the birth of two children, decides to return to work and re-engage in law practice. Together with her husband, they find Louise, a nanny who seems to be perfect in everything: she is quiet, polite, devoted to her work, sings songs to children, cleans the house, cooks and arranges enviable holidays for the kids. However, over time, the spouses and the nanny become more and more dependent on each other. In their relationship, there is a place for envy, resentment and suspicion, which gradually destroy the idyll and turn it into hatred. The storyline for the book was a case in New York: in 2012, Jocelyn Ortege from the Dominican Republic stabbed two of her pupils to death. As a result of the trial, the nanny was sentenced to life imprisonment.  The book was published in 2016 in French and in 2018 in English. At home, the novel won the highest literary award, the Goncourt Prize, and Slimani became the first Frenchwoman of Moroccan descent to receive such a prestigious prize.
