Mysterious Events Star will New Horrors
Steven Spielberg's company Amblin Entertainment has decided to get the ball rolling on the film adaptation of Henry James's famous gothic novel "The Turn of the Screw". The project, tentatively titled Haunted, was announced last spring, when Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of 28 Weeks Later, was invited to direct the horror movie.According to Variety, many changes have taken place behind the scenes since then. First, the management of Amblin Entertainment decided to give it a new name. From now on, the tape is called The Turning. Secondly, the studio refused the services of Fresnadillo and has already found a replacement for him in the person of Italian Floria Sigismondi, who over the past couple of years had a hand in creating the series American Gods, The Handmaid's Tale and Daredevil. Finally, thirdly, the film company decided to rework the original script by Carey and Chad Hayes ("The Conjuring"). Young Hollywood screenwriter Jade Bartlett was brought in to work on the text. The protagonist of James's story is a 20-year-old governess hired to look after two orphans. Soon the girl begins to think that besides her and the children, there are several uninvited guests in the gloomy estate. The Turn of the Screw has always attracted great interest among filmmakers and has already become the basis for a number of feature films. Several years ago, the book of 1898 gained an army of new fans when it was successfully advertised by the creators of the cult serial drama Lost.  Mackenzie Davis (Black Mirror) will play the role of the governess in The Turning, and Finn Wolfard will play one of her charges. It looks like the young Canadian actor is ready to cement his status as a rising star in the horror genre. By now, in his filmography, you can already find the magnificent mystical series "Mysterious Events" and the horror film "It".
