The trolls are to blame
A couple of months ago, no one would have believed that funny children's toys with multi-colored hair would become the main troublemakers in the world of cinema. In Hollywood, the scandal continues around the online release of the cartoon "Trolls. World Tour.Let's restore the chronology of events. In late March, Universal said it would not wait for the theatrical quarantine to be lifted and would release Trolls on streaming platforms. The National Association of Cinema Owners (NATO) condemned the company for thinking only of its own pocket and not wanting to support the usual distribution system in difficult times for the film business. Trolls went online on April 10 and brought tens of millions of dollars for Universal. NATO's revenge was terrifying. The association was supported by the AMC network, which announced that it would no longer show Universal films. A little later, several more cinemas joined the boycott. Today, the owners of the studio are faced with a new karmic punishment: Universal may get bogged down in litigation involving Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick and other actors who gave voices to the cartoon characters.  The stars of the franchise were not informed that the Trolls would avoid widespread distribution. At the same time, the contracts were drawn up in such a way that the main income of the actors consisted of payments for overcoming certain marks in the box office. Due to the fact that the cartoon went online, the stars can only count on modest payments from the $ 2 million that were won in the world box office before the massive closure of cinemas. Timberlake and company believe the studio deliberately deprived the actors of their contractual bonuses. At best, the Troll stars will not cooperate with Universal in the future, and at worst, they will flood the studio with claims.
