Universal Monsters Light Up the Dance Floor

Image It seems that Universal still hasn't figured out what to do with its famous movie characters. A few years ago, the studio tried to create a universe of monsters, but in the end, the audience did not wait for either Johnny Depp in the guise of the Invisible Man, or Javier Bardem in the role of the Frankenstein monster. When the reboot of "The Mummy" did not meet the expectations of the producers, Universal changed the direction of the franchise's development. It seemed that the future of the film series belongs to low-budget horror films, but today the studio has presented an unexpected surprise.

As it turned out, Universal is still preparing a large-scale skit. The studio has announced the start of work on a musical based on Bobby Pickett's Monster Mash. The premiere of the composition took place in the summer of 1962. By Halloween, the song had gained such popularity that it soared to # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Monster Mash featured a number of classic Universal horror characters, from the Wolfman to Dracula. Perhaps the studio is using the film to finally bring the monsters together.

The plot of the musical will be thought up by Blacklist 2015 alumnus Will Widger, and the production will be directed by the debutant of the big cinema - clip maker Matt Stawski.
