Ben Whishaw begins career as a midwife

Image Two years ago, the British Broadcasting Company bought the film rights to Adam Kay's bestseller It Hurts: The Story of a Retired Physician at the Peak of His Career. Today, BBC executives have finally announced the name of a theater, film and TV star who will lead the cast of the series. Emmy and Golden Globe winner Ben Whishaw will enter the world of medicine.

The book was published in 2017 and has received rave reviews from readers. In his memoir, Kay talked about an internship in the department of obstetrics and gynecology, when he had to work 97 hours a week and make vital decisions, despite the lowest status in the hospital hierarchy.

Adam personally adapted the book for television. His script will now pass to Lucy Forbes ("In My Skin"), who will act as the main production manager. The BBC has also acquired a powerful overseas partner: the American television network AMC will take part in the creation of the series.

In recent years, Whishaw has worked extensively and successfully on TV: soon we will enjoy playing the Briton in the fourth season of Fargo.
