Marc Duplass will direct a film about a stand-up comedian

Image A film adaptation can easily give a book a second life by showing a unique story to a wide audience. News of another film adaptation appears every day: WarnerMedia has bought the rights to another work by Stephen King, and Sofia Coppola is creating a series about the first woman to receive a Pulitzer Prize. Next door in the news feed is Mark Duplass, whom Village Roadshow Pictures has invited to direct the film adaptation of Israeli writer David Grossman's book A Horse Walks Into a Bar.

The 2017 Booker Prize-winning short novel explores the life of a stand-up comedian, revealing its details through the events of one evening performance. In the interaction of the artist with the audience, in a whirlwind of sharp jokes, a deep story arises that touches everyone present and leads to a number of unexpected and frightening revelations about the hero's past.

Duplassse's directorial list includes Cyrus and Empty Heads, as well as selected episodes of the TV show Room 104. Much more often Duplass acts in the role of an actor: recently he could be seen in the series "Morning Show" and the film "Scandal".
