New Escape from New York gets a screenwriter
The Tracking Board reports that 20th Century Fox has invited Neil Cross to write a script for the upcoming remake of “ Escape from New -York ".Cross , who prefers to work on television, quite rarely undertakes the creation of texts for full-length films. In his filmography, you can find only one tape - the horror film "Mama" with Jessica Chastain and Nikolai Koster-Waldau in the lead roles. TV lovers know Neil as the creator of the British show "Luther" ( Luther ). The original Escape from New York by John Carpenter is setin the not too distant future. Manhattan Island is isolated and turned into a maximum security prison. When the revolutionaries place the President of the United States here, one of the prisoners (Kurt Russell) receives a task to save the head of state in a day in exchange for amnesty.  The remake is produced by Andrew Ron and Alex Heineman. The studio's management has high hopes for the project, focusing on the success of the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise.
