Urban Cowboy will move to TV
As it became known to the information portal Variety , Fox will join forces with Paramount TV , as well as with director and scriptwriter Craig Brewer (Free) to create a TV remake of Urban Cowboy .Brewer will write the script and lead the production of the pilot. He will also co-executive with Robert Evans and Sue Nagle. Like the original film starring John Travolta and Debra Winger, theseries explores the uneasy relationship between Sissy and Bud , which developed against the backdrop of the popular 80s rodeo. The action will take the audience to the backyard of an oil refinery and a dance club in one of the towns of Texas.The 1980 film, directed by James Bridges, secured Travolta as a movie star.  The new version of Urban Cowboy is part of Paramount 's plans to bring their own successful films to TV. So, in the fall a remake of "Minority Opinion" will be released on small screens, and the studio plans to shoot a pilot episode of the series based on the plot of the criminal action movie "Shooter".
