Fox and Paramount TV will be remaking the 1980 melodrama "City Cowboy" starring John Travolta and Debra Winger. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Craig Brewer, on whose account such movies as "Hustle & Move" and "Free", will write the script, as well as act as a director and executive producer of the drama. The original movie executive producer Robert Evans will return to his duties alongside Sue Nagle and James Sikura.

The new story is described as a modern reimagining of the classic movie about Sissy and Bud - a pair of unhappy young lovers fighting for their dreams and passionate desires, taking part in a rodeo, working in an oil refinery, dancing in the cheap nightclubs of modern and charming Texas. It's a story about a family legacy, how to start over, finding true love, and fulfilling the American dream.

The original James Bridges movie was released in June 1980, and his earnings in North America were $ 47 million.

In 2016, a new version of the action-adventure "Tarzan" by David Yates will be released, the script for which was also written by Craig Brewer.
