Despite this, director Joe Camp was unable to find a distributor for his film in Hollywood, which forced him to create his own film company. As a result, " Benji " earned rave reviews from critics, earned more than $ 39 million in the US on a budget of $ 500K , and also won “ Golden Globes ”and received a nomination for“ Oscar ”in the category“ Best Song. The new version of Benji will be written and directed by Joe Camp's son - Brandon . Mindful of the failure of Jem and the Holograms , Blumhouse bosses will give him a modest budget, while allowing maximum creative freedom.
