Blumhouse studio is preparing a horror movie in which the famous toy, the ball of fate, will appear. The film will be directed and written by Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare, Kick-Ass 2). Blumhouse plans to follow the standard scenario and make a low-budget movie. At the same time, Wadlow promises to present the audience with something unusual and not meeting the expectations of moviegoers.The orb of fate is a joke predictor of the future, a ball filled with ink. A figure with 20 surfaces floats in the liquid, each of which has a definite answer: "yes", "no", "absolutely sure", "bad chances", "the question is not clear", etc. Time magazine has recognized the ball of fate as one of the 100 best toys in the world. Mattel, the maker of the toy, will be involved in an independent film production for the first time. Last year, Mattel opened a film department for projects using the company's popular toys. Mattel Films CEO Robbie Brenner (Dallas Buyers Club) showed a strong enthusiasm for the upcoming project: “There are no better partners to create the ball of fate story. Blumhouse Productions has a unique take on the thriller genre. The studio's projects have found a viewer all over the world and have received wide recognition.  Mattel Films is currently involved in six film projects in collaboration with various Hollywood studios. All of them are at the planning stage. Upcoming films will feature Barbie, another doll known as American Girl, Hot Wheels cars, View Master virtual reality glasses and figures from the "Masters of the Universe" series. This is not the first time Blumhouse has worked with toys. In 2015, the studio released the musical science fiction film Jem and the Holograms, based on the series of toys of the same name and an animated TV show.
