Best Special Effects of 2018
The 17th Visual Effects Society Awards have finished at the Beverly Hilton Los Angeles hotel. For the eighth time in his career, comedian Patton Oswalt will host the ceremony.Currently, the VES ranks include more than four thousand experts in special effects and computer graphics from 40 countries around the world, who annually celebrate the outstanding achievements of their colleagues in the field of film, television and advertising. The first VES awards ceremony took place in 2003. Since then, special effects experts have been able to predict the names of ten of the sixteen Academy Award winners. This year, the superhero blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War won the Best Visual Effects in a Photorealistic Film nomination and the title of the main favorite of the Oscar race. Spider-Man: Into the Universes was unmatched among animation projects, and the creators of the sci-fi saga Lost in Space have gathered the richest awards in the TV series categories. Traditionally, within the framework of today's ceremony, special awards for contribution to the development of the industry were presented. The VFX honorary prizes went to David Benioff and D.B., showrunners of the TV adaptation of the fantasy cycle A Song of Ice and Fire. Weiss, founder of animation studio Illumination Christopher Meledandri and screenwriter for Remember, The Dark Knight, and Interstellar Jonathan Nolan.
