Leonardo DiCaprio walks the alley of nightmares

Image After Guillermo del Toro received an Oscar for The Shape of Water, he took a short sabbatical and was involved in producing projects for other directors. Finally, the filmmaker is ready to return to directing. With "Fantastic Journey", del Toro did not work out, but he found a quite worthy replacement for the action and already even looked after a Hollywood star for his new project. Leonardo DiCaprio is negotiating to star in del Toro's film, Nightmare Alley.

"Alley of Nightmares" is a modern adaptation of the novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham. The story of the rise to the pinnacle of success and the downfall of con man Stanton Carlisle was already featured in a 1947 noir. Insiders report that del Toro's plans do not include creating a remake - he intends to show viewers his own vision of Gresham's book. Del Toro's screenplay was co-written with Kim Morgan (The Forbidden Room).

If negotiations with DiCaprio succeed, the Oscar winner will play the charming Stanton Carlisle, who works in a second-rate circus. Here he meets the medium Xena, who possesses a secret code that allows her to deceive gullible spectators. Stanton dreams of getting the code, and when he succeeds, he leaves Carnival and Xena to start his own career. Everything goes according to plan until a cunning woman psychiatrist appears on Stanton's path, and the great manipulator becomes a pawn in someone else's game ...

Filming for Nightmare Alley is due to begin in the fall, while del Toro will be recruiting the rest of the cast. Now, two horror films produced by him are being prepared for release, "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" and "Horns", and DiCaprio will take a walk in Tarantino's Hollywood in the summer.
