Guillermo del Toro will look into the alley of nightmares
The day before yesterday it became known that the status of the main favorite of the upcoming 75th Golden Globe Awards was given to Guillermo del Toro's fantasy drama The Shape of Water. Today, the Variety edition has brought another good news for fans of the Mexican director's work. Del Toro accepted Fox Searchlight's invitation to lead the remake of the noir thriller Nightmare Alley.The original film was released in 1947. The adaptation of the novel by William Lindsay Gresham received controversial press reviews, but over the years it has become considered a true classic of the genre. The main character of Edmund Goulding's painting was the charming con man Stan Carlisle, who, thanks to his work in a traveling circus, learned to impersonate a powerful medium and tried to draw the Chicago millionaire into a dizzying scam ... Del Toro is ready to take on three functions at once, acting as a producer, screenwriter and director of the new version of Nightmare Alley.  Hollywood insiders suggest that Guillermo will not rush to work on a remake of the 1947 tape, but will prefer to first take on the implementation of the famous Hollywood long-term construction "Fantastic Journey".
