Renowned Mexican director Guillermo Del Toro intends to movie William Linsay Gresham's novel "The Alley of Nightmares" for Fox Searchlight and expects Leonardo DiCaprio to play the lead role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations with the actor are already underway. In the center of the plot of the literary source is a swindler named Stanton Carlisle, who gets a job in a traveling carnival and seeks to find out the secret of the trick of the famous "female medium", who supposedly knows how read the minds of the audience. When, after a series of intrigues, he succeeds, he opens his own show and decides to go much further than his teacher, deceiving the wealthy public. The result was not at all what the protagonist had hoped for. Based on the novel in 1947, the movie of the same name was movieed "Alley of Nightmares".
