Is King's Confrontation going to TV?

Image It seems that fans of Stephen King's work will finally get a new adaptation of the post-apocalyptic thriller "Confrontation". According to The Tracking Board, the heroes of the cult novel The King of Horrors are set to conquer small screens.

Confrontation was published in 1978 and earned Stephen a nomination for the World Fantasy Award. The first attempts to film the book were made back in the 80s, when George A. Romero took an active interest in the project. King was completely delighted with the ideas of the Hollywood horror master, but at the last moment the management of Warner Bros. unexpectedly sent the film to the shelf.

In 1994, the ABC mini-series of the same name was filmed based on "Confrontation", which earned a lot of flattering reviews in the press and won two Emmy awards.

The idea of creating a new film adaptation of the famous novel about the struggle between the forces of good and evil appeared in 2011. Over the years, David Yates, Ben Affleck and Scott Cooper have been in the director's chair of the film. In February 2014, Confrontation passed into the hands of Josh Boone (Fault in the Stars). At first, the director talked about creating one three-hour film, but after a few months the bosses of Warner Bros. provided him with additional funds and offered to make four films at once.

In the summer of 2015, the format of the film adaptation was changed again. First, an eight-part mini-series was supposed to be on television, and then viewers could watch the grand finale of the story in cinemas. To the disappointment of the king fans, this idea never materialized. As a result, Warner Bros. abandoned the project, and the rights to film the book passed to CBS Films.

According to Hollywood insiders, the new owners of the franchise decided to create a ten-episode miniseries and leave Josh Boone at the helm. Confrontation is expected to find shelter on the fledgling CBS All Access streaming platform. This news will surely delight fans of Stephen King, as the management of the CBS corporation spares no expense in the development of their online service. One of the first projects of CBS All Access was the science fiction series "Star Trek: Discovery", for the shooting of the opening season of which about $ 100 million was allocated.

It should be noted that CBS Films officials have so far refrained from commenting.
