Don't stop believing

Image As soon as Bohemian Rhapsody earned more than $ 540 million at the worldwide box office and won the title of the highest-grossing musical biopic in the history of cinema, Hollywood studio bosses immediately began to pay attention to the scripts of films about famous pop singers and rock bands. A few days ago we reported that Universal is preparing a musical based on the hits of the legendary Prince. As it became known to the publication Deadline, Warner Bros. has joined the race of musical film projects, which has begun to create a picture about the lead singer of the Journey group, Arnel Pineda.

The story of the singer's path to fame is perfect for the script of a touching and life-affirming Hollywood movie musical. Arnel was born in the Philippines in 1967. The boy showed musical talents at an early age and became a regular participant in various song competitions. In the late 70s, the mother of the young singer developed serious heart problems. Pineda's father went into debt, but, unfortunately, could not save his beloved. After his mother died, Arnel had to leave school and music to help his family make ends meet.

Pineda spent a couple of years scrubbing the decks of ships in the Manila port and collecting bottles, waste paper and scrap metal, until one day he had the opportunity to perform on stage at one of the local pizzerias. The teenager's voice amazed the audience. Arnel soon formed his own band and began to make a living from music. By the end of the 80s, he managed to become one of the brightest stars of the Philippine stage.

The singer did not yet suspect that worldwide fame would await him. In 2007, the famous musical group Journey decided to find a new soloist. The band members began to watch covers of their hits on YouTube and unexpectedly stumbled upon Pineda's recordings. The Filipino was invited to America, where he successfully passed a two-day trial. Arnel's debut as the band's frontman took place in February 2008 at a music festival in Vina del Mar. Journey's first studio album since joining Pineda's band, Revelation, debuted at # 5 on the Billboard charts and went platinum in millions of copies.

The amazing life story of Arnel Pineda has already formed the basis for the plot of the documentary Don't Stop Believin ': Everyman's Journey. This time the Filipino singer will receive an in-game biopic. The directorial chair of the film will be taken by John M. Chu, who already has experience working with the WB on the hit "Crazy Rich Asians".
