The gospel queen will take over the movie screens
The regiment of musical biopics has arrived: Hollywood stars Jamie Foxx and Queen Latifa will tell about the life of the famous American singer Mahalia Jackson.Mahalia was born in 1911 in Louisiana. Jackson's musical talent manifested itself at a young age, when she was invited to the role of the soloist of a small church choir. The performance in the temples of God brought the singer nationwide fame and her first professional contract. During her long and successful career, Jackson has recorded 30 studio albums, earned the title of Queen of Gospel and won four Grammy Awards, including an award for her contribution to the development of the music industry. The plot of the picture will be based on Darlene Donlow's book "Mahalia Jackson". The singer will be portrayed by Grammy-winning Jill Scott (James Brown: The Way Up, Black Lightning).
