Jamie Foxx Will Do Justice

Image Jamie Foxx is in talks to star in the legal drama Just Mercy with Michael B. Jordan, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be directed by Destin Cretton.

The film is based on the autobiographical book Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by famous American lawyer Brian Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, which fights for the rights of the poor, innocent and death row inmates.

The memoirs are dedicated to Stevenson's first case. African American Walter McMillian was sentenced to death for a murder he did not commit. Despite the fact that at the time of the crime, McMillan was at a picnic surrounded by many witnesses, he was indicted. The trial lasted only a day and a half. McMillian spent six years on death row. Stevenson found out that the prosecutor withdrew evidence in the case, and McMillian was still released.
