British to talk about Chinese triads

Image Pulse Films will reveal the secrets of one of the most powerful crime syndicates in the world - the Chinese triads. The British studio has acquired the rights to film the Teddy Boy comic series from Concord Publishing.

The first issue of Kai Ming Man's graphic novel was released in 1992. The protagonist of the story was a young gangster Ho-Nam Chan, who began a rapid ascent up the career ladder in one of the Hong Kong gangs.

The intriguing project will be produced by Andrew Lau, who is already familiar with the heroes of the comic: at one time, "Baby Teddy" formed the basis of the plot of his action franchise "Young and Dangerous". Lau is known to the USA audience primarily for his work on the crime thriller "Castling Double", based on which Martin Scorsese's "The Departed" was created.

Pulse Films management has not yet decided on the format of the new adaptation of "Baby Teddy". Either the heroes of the comic will go to the big screen, or they will have a voyage on TV. The British studio also plans to create a series about the London mafia, headed by the creator of the Raid franchise, Gareth Evans.
