Review of the movie A Christmas Carol. By contradiction

Ebenezer Scrooge ignored the holiday of Christmas for many years, but not this time. On this Christmas night, the ghost of his former companion will appear to him, rattling chains and spitting teeth, and warn Scrooge about the terrible torment after death. The unenviable fate of a miser can only be changed by Christmas ... The Hollywood kind wizard Robert Zemeckis presents his third in a row (cartoon) movie in 3D - a terrible and spectacular fairy tale after Dickens, from which the blood runs cold.

Robert Zemeckis made a three-dimensional adaptation of Dickens in collaboration with Disney; - returning to work with this studio for the first time since the Roger Rabbit comedy. But that, what a 'Christmas Carol' made by a children's studio, quickly forgotten during the movie.

A colorful 3D image filled with meticulously rendered details and spectacular camera movements in the style of` `That'll be delicious in 3D! '' Filled with old people, coffins, ghosts, dark rooms, suffering and horror. This is not how we imagined a New Year's children's fairy tale - and if from the end of the world in `` 2012 '' children do not need `` waterproof panties '', then in some episodes of `` A Christmas story '' diapers may also be required for adults.

On the screen of the ugly old man Scrooge, four ghosts visit one after another. The second one is similar to Putin, but the first and the last one is the worst of all: the scene of the appearance of a former companion to Ebenezer seems to belong not to a cartoon about Christmas, but to an eerie old-school thriller about the spirits of the dead - well, in the end of the movie, the perfect Wii begins!

As a sin, you can't even complain about Zemeckis - because he took an extremely accurate plot and created atmosphere of the movie adaptation of Dickens's tale. The hopeless darkness of the mendicant slums is for you from an English humanist, who, by the way, in reality he was tormented by his own characters, whose images and voices he saw and heard every now and then.

The three-dimensional image helped Zemeckis to make the movie almost physically tangible (3D snowflakes want to turn their cheeks), and complement the already juicy picture with impressive views of old (good?) London. Take panoramic shots and some impressive camera flights through London streets and slums, past Big Ben under construction, in A Christmas Carol. will not be forgotten - even if the compensatory memory mechanisms erase all the other horrors in it.

B " Christmas story '' the moral of the picture, its so-called message, is most questionable. The point is not even for what kind of audience this movie is (the level of scarecrows is not childish) - it has long been known that children have a simpler attitude to suffering and cruelty, and Dickens's chernukha may well act for them as an educational moment. It is difficult to accept something else: the Christian way of preaching goodness in the plot of the movie is through frightening vile and disgusting nightmares.

Scrooge all his life appreciated only the ringing of coins and was not touched by the problems of others. The spirits of Christmas showed him the world without him, almost knocking poor Scrooge into the grave and promising further painful wanderings. But did Scrooge's convictions change when he sang a Christmas carol out of fright or, out of fear of the black carriage, donated significant sums to the poor?

In summary, "A Christmas Carol" Zemeckis is a beautiful and atmospheric animated movie, frightening and inspiring at the same time, with a wonderful 3D picture and a cartoonish incarnation of Jim Carrey. But this fabulous, soul-cleansing story is hindered by a worm of doubt:
