Although the action-packed thriller Meg: Monster of the Depth was not a critical success, it managed to more than recoup its $ 130 million budget and revive the interest of the world's leading film studios in films about unfriendly inhabitants of the world's oceans. As it became known to The Hollywood Reporter, Meg 2 will have to compete with another movie about underwater monsters.The Hollywood film company Voltage Pictures is preparing its response to the Sino-American franchise, which bought the rights to Frank Hannah's script ("Brake"), tentatively titled "Alphas". The action of the picture will unfold in a coastal city, whose inhabitants will be terrorized by a flock of white sharks. The last hope of the townspeople in the fight against sea predators will be the toothy killer whale, which was kept in captivity after the cruel reprisal of the dolphinologist trainer ... The director's chair of the action-thriller will be taken by Stephen Quayle (Towards the Storm), who already has experience in organizing and conducting underwater filming. In the late 80s, he worked as an assistant to James Cameron on the set of the sci-fi film The Abyss. In the next decade, the eminent Canadian director entrusted Stephen with the leadership of the second film crew of the Titanic. Finally, in 2005, Quayle and Cameron co-directed the documentary Aliens from the Abyss.  The film will be produced by Oscar winner Nicolas Cartier (The Hurt Locker).
