Review of the movie Silent Outpost. Salam alaykum

The military genre in USA cinema is very popular, be it a television format, or theatrical. On the one hand, this is good - you can and should take pictures of the exploits of our soldiers and ancestors. But on the other hand, after watching the next war movie, all the merits of which are limited only by the phrase `` Dedicated to the fallen in this battle '', you involuntarily notice a certain cunning of the creators who mask the numerous shortcomings of their work by open manipulation of the audience's emotions (like the mega-tragic endings, from which any viewer gets emotional).

The Silent Outpost at first it evokes only positive emotions: good camera work and mesmerizing music tune in to a completely high-quality war drama. The atmosphere of that era is remarkably conveyed, in which the movie takes place: when one country collapsed, and a new one had not yet been built. The country has changed its flag, but the Soviet flag and the statue of Lenin's grandfather are still hanging at the border outpost.

But, closer to the middle, you start to notice very unpleasant little things: completely unnecessary and not developing storylines appear in the plot , and the mesmerizing music, which at the beginning perfectly immersed you in the movie, is simply boring due to excessive frequent use. In the end, you get so tired of these compositions that shots and explosions seem to be much more pleasant to the ear than the soundtrack.

The acting also fails. If Andrei Chadov and our eternal Dukalis Sergei Selin are still good in the frame, then the actress (I have not met her anywhere before), playing the love interest of the main character, not only does it fill up the love line, but also the whole movie walks with an incredibly stone face. Well, just absolutely no facial expressions. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to smile in his early movies. The Kazakh, who is responsible for humor here, also added fuel to the fire. True, due to excessive replaying and some completely flat jokes, `` funny '' part of the movie also fails.

On top of that, the main disease of USA cinema here makes us remember about itself: the number of eternally screaming and hysterical characters oversteps any boundaries in the finale. And if during some kind of celebration or action scene they still look quite familiar, then when screams and constant antics arise in seemingly calm scenes, you start to get tired of watching.

Unfortunately, only the ending of this picture can be called completely successful. It turned out spectacular, emotional and exciting. But this, again, as mentioned above, is pure manipulation. The main problem of the movie is that it doesn't show itself until the end. A bunch of storylines practically do not develop, and hints of a love line remain hints. Having told everything that is possible about the characters in the first twenty minutes, the director for some reason continues to show us the personal life of the heroes, which is already clear to everyone. But these are precious minutes of timekeeping.

As a result, we can say that the movie has only the finale of its advantages, and the atmosphere of that era is not bad. The middle turned out to be completely empty and boring, without introducing any development into the plot. After all, our border guards deserve a much better movie.
