Often, expensive Hollywood stars to shake up their acting talent are movieed in low-budget, purely chamber movies, where you have to play with maximum dedication, because the flaws of the game cannot be hidden by special effects and a shaking camera. This picture, titled "Rabbit Hole" just one of these: a stellar acting duo and a completely unpretentious, but very soulful story. In its spirit, the picture is very similar to the everyday drama `` The Road of Change '' with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, except that the problems of on-screen married couples are somewhat different.

Eight months ago, a terrible tragedy occurred in the family of Howie and Becky Corbett, their little son died. The spouses still cannot recover from its consequences. Everyone is trying to restore peace of mind in their own way: Howie plays squash with friends, Becca spends whole days at the stove and tries to simply `` erase '' all the memories of the son, throwing away the belongings of the deceased child. Spouses seek support in self-help groups, but all efforts are in vain. Marriage is bursting at the seams, relations with family are strained to the limit, the circle of friends is shrinking before our eyes. And one day, the heroes will have to understand whether the wounds of the past will ever heal.

The first thing that captures the tape is the atmosphere. The movie opens with shots of a green garden, and the bright color palette makes the image very cozy and inviting. However, after a few minutes, the viewer will begin to understand that despite the external well-being, something is wrong in this family. Sad piano music intensifies the feeling of sadness even more and with each subsequent minute, the atmosphere in the movie heats up. Despite the slow, almost melancholic development of the plot, it is very interesting to follow the events, largely due to the interesting dialogues and brilliant acting.

In general, you should immediately understand that this movie Far from being for a mass audience: a static camera, measured narration and an oppressive atmosphere of sadness certainly won't add any positive emotions to a person who comes with friends to eat popcorn or just `` have some fun ''. For those who are ready to climb all the cinemas of the city for the sake of this movie (since the tape was released in limited distribution and for the author of these lines it was a big problem to find sessions with it), it is better to morally tune in to a serious and thoughtful story before that.

Nicole Kidman's fans will be happy to finally see a bright and emotional role from the eminent actress, which she has not seen for a long time. She plays with filigree precision, in only one cold and desperate look of which you see a mother struck with endless grief. Aaron Eckhart's rudeness and carefully concealed sadness go well with Nicole's charisma, creating harmony in their duet. Secondary roles also looked clearly not superfluous, constantly reminding the main characters that life does not stop and no matter how much you want to take a break for a breather, you need to move on, leaving the past in the past.

Perhaps the only drawback, separating the tape from the masterpiece, this is its absolute non-pretentiousness. Yes, the story is emotional and touching, and the actors play simply with the highest dedication. But the plot lacks depth, and the tape is not much different from the mass of similar family dramas. The movie does not have any features or characteristics that would allow it to settle in the minds of the audience for a long time. Actually, this is not even a movie in the usual sense: there is no clear plot, climax, denouement, and so on. It's just an episode from life, which moviemakers played on the screen very realistically.

But such a movie is needed. Let it not go down in the history of cinema and the audience is unlikely to remember it later. But those emotions that you get when watching such movies make you think about a lot and look at your own life a little bit differently. But, isn't this the magic of cinema?
